In The Era Of Global Tariffs, How Can Small Economies Survive And Thrive?
SERVICE CATEGORY: Systems Development & Audit
CLIENT TYPE: A Government Ministry
SERVICE DELIVERED: Our client signed an international Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) with the World trade organisation to boost global trade. We evaluated the national implementation of the TFA and generated recommendations for improvement.
OUR ACTIVITIES: FJP undertook a global situation and risk analysis to assess progress with the TFA.
We executed a scientific survey of policymakers and key business engaged in international trade.
We found public sector gaps, risks and opportunities to the TFA goals. Practical recommendations were made to build the trust and confidence of businesses in the country’s facilitation of exports and imports.
FORESIGHT DELIVERED:
Our recommendations will reduce customs delays, improve cross boarder trade and strengthen investor confidence. We noted that the Age of Tariffs requires small economies to combine into negotiating blocs if they are to survive and thrive. ECOWAS as a serious trading bloc is no longer desirable, but mandatory. African Union Agenda 2063 is unrealistically far away.
